My new place is coming together. It is small but I have everything I need, except a view. Hard to believe that costs extra. It's amazing what you can fit into a couple hundred square fee. The Murphy bed tucked away in the wall helps keep my living space open and livable. It gives me room for the sleeper sofa and the occasional guest that I am sure I will receive at some point. Not exactly sure how I will fit another body in here but that bridge can be crossed later, at least they have a place to sleep.
A couple more days and I should be pretty well organized and settled in here. I'm sure over the next few weeks and months I will continually be adjusting and organizing everything but what I am really excited for is the opportunity to start exploring outside of these walls. There is an entire city and culture that needs to be explored. Every neighborhood, street, and back alley has its own kind of character and charm and I want to live it all. It will take ages to explore but it is a journey that must be started with the first step. I'm still a tourist at this point, just having an address doesn't make you a local. I'll start with the tourist "traps", it has to be done at some point. Alcatraz and China Town need to be explored, but the real story will start when I am able to get beyond those things and begin to discover the soul of this place that lies buried in the people and places that are off the beaten path.
Hopefully keeping this Journal will allow me to share my New Adventure while allowing me to keep a log for myself to look back upon and create a direction for the coming days. This love affair is new and fiery, I only hope it doesn't flame out like the passion we all had with the first love of our childhood.
Looking Ahead.....
-Alcatraz
-China Town
-Golden Gate
-and hopefully much much more
